Here’s an oldie but goodie from the Green Earth Girl archives… I’m willing to bet that the title of this blog looks like gibberish to about half of the people reading. That’s okay, because you’re about to learn something new and delicious. Hamantaschen are traditional Jewish cookies made to celebrate Purim (which is a lengthy holiday that I will let you google if you’re interested in it). They’re basically sugar cookies with filling, but in actuality they’re so much more than that. No worries for those who are nervous, this was my first time making them too!

Cupcakes have been trendy for a long while now, and why shouldn’t they be? They’re delicious little slices of cake. They deserve all the praise they get. While preparing to make some for a friend’s birthday, I started seeing cupcake wraps everywhere. These aren’t cupcake liners or tins, they’re a second layer that make cupcakes look even more precious and special than before. I’m not saying they’re great for post-soccer game snacks or picnics, but when cupcakes need to be elevated just a little – these are great. Unfortunately they also average about $1 each. So I decided to make some, and see if I could bring the cost down a smidge. My version only cost about $.10 a piece…

Here’s my first product review – the one I hinted at ever so slightly yesterday. I picked up this Re-Pac Bag at a gift guide expo in New York. It certainly isn’t the only re-useable lunch/storage bag out there, but it does have an edge on some of the competitors… Read the rest of this entry »

I’m not going to throw excuses at you guys for my very lengthy absence. It happened, it’s over, and I’m going to try to be better and post more often.
That being said, I also want to talk with you about the new direction for this blog. While I’ll still be posting recipes from time to time, I’m going to expand the focus to other aspects of the organic lifestyle.
As some of you might know, I edit the We Like This! page of Organic Gardening, but that means I only get to share about 5 products every two months, and there are so many great organic products out there! So I’ll be reviewing some things that don’t make it into the magazine, and great stuff I come upon. When a product was gifted to me (a company or pr representative sends it to me to try) I will let you know, but trust that I will only post about things that I really use and enjoy. There also won’t be any negative posts around here – that’s just a waste of time and energy.
I also live a secret life as a crafter, and while all of my crafts might not utilize strictly organic components, I still want to share them with you, as most of them involve repurposing or upgrading things around the house. Stay tuned for posts about a t-shirt quilt, an upgraded coffee table, and more!
I hope you’ll all join me as we head in this new direction (and forgive me for my disappearance). And since this blog is here to serve you, the reader, is there anything else you would like to see me cover?
Check back in tomorrow, when I’ll tell you all about the fun little bags pictured at the top of the post…

We’re finally doing a giveaway! We’ve been working on this behind the scenes for a while now, and can finally bring you the very first Organic Gardening blog giveaway. Read the rest of this entry »
